Back in 2006 i was rushed to the emergency room thinking i was having a heart attack and i was having problems breathing. Upon being in the hospital for over 2 weeks i was diagnoised with Hemolitic Auto Immnue Anemia.
This means my red blood cells attack each other for no apparent reason (Or at least that is what the many doctors i seen told me.) I was seeing an Auto Immune specialist at the Puget Sound Cancer Center.
I could barely get out of bed in the mornings as i was severly anemic and had no energy or drive to do anything. My face was very pale and i had no color. I seen the specialist doctor 2-3 times a week for the first year and after a blood transfusion and 2 weeks in the hospital i felt well enough to go home.
On September 11, 2008 i was rear ended in a car accident coming home from work. With my auto immune diease this cause severe pain in my neck and back as my blood wasnt getting the correct amount of oxygen.
I started to see a chiropractor 2-3 times a week to help with the back pain. This did help some but when Stevens International joined the Kersh Wellness group January 2008 that is when my symptoms started to disappear.
My co-worker and myself walk 30 minutes at lunch almost every day, rain or shine, and i have changed my eating habits to include more fruits and vegtables. I am also very active in Softball and play 2-3 times a week in the summer spring and fall and play every weekend in tournaments.
Since our company joined Kersh i no longer have to see the Auto Immune Specialist,or the Chiropractor and i have lost over 20 lbs and 2 pants sizes. I feel so much better,I still have some back pain but not as severe as before the walking really helps. I feel like a new person and will keep these habits for my lifetime. I thank Kersh and Stevens International for implimenting this program as part of employment. A healthy lifestyle makes healthy employees.
